Joel and Karen Top are great friends of Andy and I. So great that Karen (in all her infinite wisdom) actually hooked me up with my husband, Andy. (She will never let me forget this, by the way, and as if I could...)
Anyway, Karen was an early adopter of loving my work. We did our first shoot when she was pregnant with her first child, Connor. We did Connor's 6 month and one- year photos and now we have just finished a combo pack family shoot and 6 month shoot for her second son Ramon. I am grateful this family is so photogenic!
For this shoot, I am just going to share what I love about each photo that I chose for the blog. As always, you can see the entire gallery by clicking on the title.
The reasons for loving this one are that sweet Connor was not really in the mood for the photo shoot (and what two year old should be in the mood for a photo shoot??), so this is one of the rare gems where everyone is doing what they should be doing for the photo. I love that Ramon is reaching for Connor and Connor is leaning away. The love of brothers....
A dad's heart for his boys...I love the processing on this, Connor's excitement, Joel's interest in whatever Connor is saying and the fact that Ramon is the only one paying attention.
Ok, I love that this is the absolute non-photo. It looks like something that belongs anywhere but on someone's photography blog. Love the processing on this one too!
This one breaks all the rules but I don't care. Karen is so gorgeous and the setting sun makes this look like a model shoot. I love the house you can see in the left background and the vignette on this one...
I love Karen's strong hands holding her baby and the fact that you can see, although not identify, her necklace and bracelet that have each of the boys initials on them. I love that Ramon is NOT looking at the camera and that although Karen is, you can't see her eyes, just her smile.
A kid being a kid. Not a kid pretending to be a kid in some studio with a blue cloud backdrop, a stuffed animal and a tricycle. I love my job!
A great black and white and a priceless expression.
Thanks again, Tops for letting me capture your life! It's an honor!
And Karen, if I haven't said it lately, thanks for setting me up with Andy- who knows where I would be today if not for you :) Love you!
